The different types of cellulite

Cellulite affects the vast majority of women, regardless of age or body type. However, many are unaware that there are several types of cellulite, each with its own specific causes and characteristics. Understanding these differences is essential for choosing the right methods, such as maderotherapy and self-massage.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is an accumulation of fat, fluid, or fibrous tissue under the skin, giving it that "orange peel" appearance. It is not related to being overweight: even slim women can have it. Identifying the type of cellulite is the first step toward effective action.

1. Adipose cellulite

Adipose cellulite is caused by the accumulation of fat under the skin. It is often soft to the touch and appears mostly on the thighs, hips, and buttocks.

How to reduce it:
‱ Regular physical activity
‱ Balanced diet
‱ Targeted massage techniques, such as maderotherapy or self-massage with wooden tools or an electric roller

2. Aqueous cellulite (water retention)

This type of cellulite causes poor blood and lymphatic circulation. The legs can swell and be sensitive, especially after long hours of sitting.

Natural solutions:
‱ Lymphatic drainage
‱ Self-massage with an electric roller or wooden tools
‱ Reducing salt in your diet

3. Fibrous cellulite

Fibrous cellulite is older and harder to treat. The skin is hard and painful, and the "orange peel" appearance persists even when pinched.

Tip :
Regular maderotherapy sessions, like those taught in our online course: Training, stimulate circulation and improve skin elasticity.

4. Mixed cellulite

Mixed cellulite combines several types of cellulite on different areas of the body. For example, adipose on the thighs and aqueous on the ankles.

Recommended approach:
Adapt the treatment according to the area with a mix of techniques: massage, lymphatic drainage, and maderotherapy.

Understand cellulite to act better

Identifying your type of cellulite is the key to choosing the most effective methods. Combining maderotherapy, lymphatic drainage, and self-massage with the right tools helps to:
‱ Stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation
‱ Reduce water retention
‱ Improve the skin's texture and appearance

These techniques are accessible to everyone and easy to integrate into your daily routine.
